Orion's Horsehead NebulaAlthough it may be named the horsehead nebula, it really does not look like a horsehead sticking out from all that nebula. The really bright star towards the left is part of Orion's belt, and I think the row that the star is in is actually Orion's belt. The red color surrounding the nebula is caused by the hydrogen atoms created from the combination of protons and electrons.
