Comet Holmes Over Hungary
This is strange since the comet is still visible to the naked eye even though it has been there since October. You would think that it has already traveled far out that we can't see it anymore. But, people in the northern hemisphere can still enjoy this for a while until it goes away. Too bad the tail is barely there anymore.

An Iridescent Cloud Over Colorado
These are iridescent clouds caused by the diffraction of sunlight on thinner clouds. The sun is mostly hidden by thicker clouds and different colors are being deflected by different amounts. This looks so cool since it seems like it's a photo of the reflections in water instead of in the sky. The color wavebands look like waves dispersing through the clouds.

Cosmic Rays From Galactic Centers
The lavendar rays look like lightning from up high with little sparks coming out from its sides. I didn't know cosmic rays can be this color. Ultra high energy cosmic rays have sky directions that are consistent with nearby galactic nuclei. These galactic centers emits alot of light and are powered by black holes. This picture shows a cosmic ray striking Earth, causing a particle shower.

Comet Holmes Grows A Tail
Wow! A comet with a tail. It looks awesome but the title was really misleading since it's not really a tail. It's like a trail left behind by ions because of the solar wind. What's really cool is the brightness at which it's glowing. You can see how the actual comet is the small core in the center, but the glow has made it seem so much larger than it is.

Halloween and the Ghost Head Nebula
Apparently this is the Ghost Head Nebula, but I really don't see any ghost heads in the image. But, it's cool how they're putting up this picture especially for Halloween. I didnt's know that Halloween's actually a cross-quarter day. So, we're really celebrating Halloween too early in the year.

IC 5067 in the Pelican Nebula
This ridge spans for 10 light-years...just how far is that. It's crazy how 10 light-years can be captured just like that. The whole nebula is actually 2,000 light-years, so this is just a little snippit of it. Also, the names for some celestial objects are just plain weird. I don't know why it's named Pelican Nebula, but it's very strange. It looks like a duck or monster more than anything.

Bright Planets, Crescent Moon
This looks so pretty and so unrealistic. I wanted to see this for myself but I missed the chance. I did not imagine it to be that bright and clear in the night sky. This just blew me away. Now I really want to see it in person. It's still strange to think that light reflected from Earth could show such a thing.

50th Anniversary of Sputnik
This is cool, but also very eerie. I've always wondered what Sputnik really meant, now I know and it's really not how I expect it to be. It's strange how Sputnik is named a "traveling companion" and it's used to spy on others. What's really strange is that the Soviets sent a dog into orbit a month after the first Sputnik. Why a dog...?

Hole In The Sun
There's a coronal hole in the sun that has caused some colorful auroral displays on Earth. If possible, I would like to view this hole through a filtered telescope or watch the auroral displays. I wonder what it really looks like. This hole was caused by a low density region that has reached upward towards the surface causing the magnetic field to open freely into space.

Tungurahua Erupts
This picture looks like a sureal image. It seems as though it's a regular picture of an erupting volcano with a photoshopped effect of some clouds. The lava is so heated that you can cleary see it glow as it trails down the volcano. This is the first time that I've seen an erupting volcano up high where it touches the clouds.

Six Rainbows Across Norway
This sight is so pretty, seeing many rainbows at once in the sky. It's amazing how all this was created just from internal reflections inside water droplets in the air. Although I only see three rainbows, it's still great.

1.2 APOD

South Pole Lunar Eclipse
The lunar eclipse in the South Pole is so different from other places. The moon traveled across the sky in a straight line instead of a diagonal path because of its location on the globe. If I could, I would want to take a trip to the South Pole to see this phenomenon. What's better is that the moon looks reddish when it's fully blocked by Earth.

A Red Dome Under The Big Dipper
This picture is very interesting since this telescopic observatory isn't really transparent and red in person. Some observers lit the inside of the spinning dome with red light and open the observatory slighty. With the help of the long exposure, they were able to capture this through a slit in the observatory.
